Local author Joni Lambert is bringing holiday warmth and wagging tails to young readers this season with Smiley Saves Christmas, the second book in her heartwarming children’s series inspired by her real-life rescue dog, Smiley the Great Pyrenees.

Following the success of Smiley Finds a Home, which tells the story of Smiley’s rescue and the joy of finding his forever family, Smiley Saves Christmas continues the lovable pup’s adventures with a holiday twist. In this new story, Smiley learns from Santa himself that Christmas is the birthday of Jesus, inspiring the gentle giant to discover the true meaning of giving and to find the perfect gift for his family.

“Smiley’s story is all about kindness, gratitude, and love — values that mean even more during the holiday season,” says Lambert . “He reminds children that the best gifts don’t come from a store, and that loving others is what truly makes the season bright.”

Beautifully illustrated and told from Smiley’s own perspective, Smiley Saves Christmas continues the author’s mission to encourage compassion and responsible pet rescue. Both books in the series are designed to teach children empathy and the joy of giving — messages that resonate with families and animal lovers alike.
